Feel Good Friday

"When sky blue gets dark enough
To see the colors of the city lights
A trail of ruby red and diamond white
Hits her like a sunrise..."
~ John Mayer - Neon

Things I'm Thankful for Thursday

It's already Thursday?! Wow. Here are some things I'm thankful for right now:

1. Yogi tea. They have good tea for when your sick and the messages on the tag always brighten my day. I'm thankful for my favorite owl mug too. (I know I mentioned being thankful for tea before, I just really love it lol).

2. Extra sleep.

3. The previews for Liberty of London for Target are full of great cheerful patterns. I can't wait to see the real deal.

{here}

4. Instant Netflix, and I Capture the Castle. This is one occasion were I loved the book and the movie.

The movie has some beautiful shots in it, and Romola Garai does a great job with the role. I recommend it!

What are you thankful for today?

Feel Better

I'm still fighting my cold, so I found some nice graphic get-well-soon cards from Etsy:

I like these. They are easy to read. They don't make my headache worse. That's all.

Just...

This recycled wood sign made by William Dohman is very lovely, and a useful reminder to just breathe when things get a little stressful.

I think it would look great with the Jayson Home pencil holder in my dream office!

Brass Beauty

Isn't this the most elegant pencil holder you've ever seen?

Now everything on my desk looks inadequate in comparison. Oh well.

Sidewalk Saturday 2/20

This post for "Sidewalk Saturday" is a little random. I was at home most of the day trying not to get sick, and working on some projects.

Here are two previously found stencils:

"Relax its just a stencil"

I saw this abandoned door on the way to the grocery store and though it was interesting.

I also ran across this today:

This is what it feels like to be a mailbox with unrequited love.

This is a little illustration I made today after drawing some locks for the project I'm working on:And now I'm going back to my tea, vitamin c, and instant netflix. Enjoy the weekend!

I love lamp

This lamp from Urban is amazing. Simple with just the right amount of vintage/quirky.

P.S. Can you name the movie quote?

Two Things I Love

I found the blog Bacwoods Fern today, who is doing "two things I love...around my home" post for bloggers to share a couple of things they love/appreciate in their homes. Sounds fun right?

I love these owl planters I got at the Alameda Antique Fair several months ago. They are pretty big and cheer me up every morning I see them in the kitchen. Now I just need to put plants in them that can survive my terrible horticulture skills.

I also love this hand carved Buddha hanging I got at a thrift store in Fresno with my sister. It's just beautiful.

Head over to Bacwoods Fern to see some other great posts.

Presidential

Happy President's Day! In honor of President's Day I picked out a couple of my favorite Michael S. Smith interiors, because he is the new interior designer for the White House.

The last one is my favorite. Most of his stuff is too achromatic for me, but this bedroom seems very clean/restful. His work also seems very appropriate for the White House.

I also did a little sketch of the Oval Office for fun:

Who would you pick to be the interior designer for the White House if you could choose?

Sidewalk Saturday 2/13

I didn't walk around as much today so I don't have as much to share this week. Here's one of the very first sidewalk stencils I found in the city that sparked my love for them:

I also went to the Westfield mall in the city to look at cute Valentine's Day outfits (I was good and didn't buy anything!) and took some pictures of the amazing ceiling they have on the top floor.

Yesterday I got to see a new part of the city to me, Glen Park, when I helped my friend/fellow graduate Jason, take pictures of a design he just did.

I love the wall color! Check out Jason's blog for more/better pictures!

I hope your Valentine's weekend is going well!

Feel Good Friday

Sometimes by the time I get to Friday I'm feeling a little worn down, so I might start doing "feel good Friday" posts with a little something that makes me feel better about life (last week was "dream big").

Here's what I did today:

That's a picture of the wall behind my bed, which I taped paper hearts onto for some Valentine's Day cheer. It's actually painted a bright pink color called "Hot Lips" by Benjamin Moore. I love it!

I hope your Friday is going great!

Thank You Thursday

Here are some things I'm thankful for today:

1. Unhappy hipsters making me laugh:

"Flipping the pages hurriedly, he sensed that the potted plants were advancing."

2. Excuses to get dressed up.

3. How pretty the streets look at night when its raining.

{here}

4. A good hot cup of tea.

{here}

5. Cute roommates to cuddle with.

What are you thankful for?

Watercolor Wednesday

A skill I'm trying to learn/work on right now is watercolor painting. I haven't done much of it before, and it's more challenging than I thought it was going to be. I love the softer, dreamy quality of watercolors though.

Here's some great watercolor paintings I found on etsy:

I did this one for a friend, but I think I want to practice a bit more before I give her the final version. The wiggle chair by Frank Gehry is her favorite chair :)

Do you have any tips for using watercolors? What's your favorite chair?
